Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the flower farm?
Mendip Flower Co. is based in the village of Stratton-on-the-Fosse. Located on the Fosse way A367, with Wells, Frome and South Bath only 20 minutes away.
Find us: Mendip Flower Company, Killings Knap Farm, Stratton-on-the-Fosse BA3 4QF
Contact by phone 01761 231242 or email hello@mendipflowers.co.uk
Please note: Visits to our flower farm are by appointment only.

What does seasonal flower farm mean?
We are a flower farm that aligns with the seasons. We grow cut flowers and foliage for wholesale and retail.
Our cut-flower season is from Spring till late Autumn. The flowers we grow are only available when that variety naturally flowers.
For example, daffodils, tulips and lilac in Spring, Sunflowers, Roses and Dahlias in Summer, Foliage, berries, dried flowers and seed heads in Winter – these are ‘in season’.
Seasonal means that we can’t promise a specific flower variety, because we are working with nature (the weather and pests!) but can guide you in the sorts of flowers that will be available.

Can I visit the flower farm?
Although we love welcoming guests to the farm, this is also our home and work place, so we are often busy with the smallholding and our family, as well as growing and picking quality flowers for retail and wholesale. This means that visits to the flower farm are by appointment or pre-arranged event only.
If you are a florist and would like to visit the farm, please get in touch by emailing hello@mendipflowers.co.uk, and we are more than happy to arrange a time to show you around.

How can I buy your flowers?
We offer our flowers as bunches, bouquets and buckets from April until October, and as dried flowers and foliage in the winter months. We welcome retail and wholesale customers.

Our Pick Your Own (PYO) flower dates are released throughout the summer depending on availability.

Yes! If you are a florist or local business we will offer our sustainably grown British seasonal flowers at wholesale rates.
From Spring until late Autumn, we have cut flower availability for florists, pre-made mixed seasonal bunches for local businesses, as well as foliage options available all year.
We prefer collection for maximum freshness and to keep inline with our sustainability promise, but do also offer local delivery options.

How long will my flowers last?
We are a sustainable, eco-friendly flower farm, so we don’t use any chemical preservatives or flower food on our blooms.
How long your flowers last can depend on a few things, but with a bit of TLC, they should stay looking fresh for about 4 to 7 days. See our flower care tips below to help you achieve optimum vase life for your blooms...
Flower Care Tips ~
-
Start with a clean vase, then fill with fresh, cool water. Bacteria can shorten the life of your flowers, so a clean container makes a big difference.
-
Change the water every couple of days, as bacteria shortens the life of your flowers.
-
Trim the stems regularly. This helps them drink better and keeps them looking perky for longer.
-
Keep them cool ~ Display your flowers somewhere out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources like radiators or sunny windowsills. A cool spot will help them last longer.
